{"id":571,"date":"2020-09-01T06:59:00","date_gmt":"2020-09-01T06:59:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dzeeusa.com\/blog\/?p=571"},"modified":"2026-01-02T16:09:39","modified_gmt":"2026-01-02T16:09:39","slug":"intercontinental-hotels-symbol","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dzeeusa.com\/blog\/intercontinental-hotels-symbol\/","title":{"rendered":"COVID19: Hotels Put Out A Symbol of Love and Hope"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>InterContinental Hotels or IHG, a British multinational hospitality company has expanded a statement of hope by lighting up many of its empty rooms with symbols of love as the world faces the prospect of lockdown.<\/p>\n<p>While many hotels around the world remained empty as the hospitality industry experiences the results of the COVID-19 outbreak, IHG put out a symbol of \u2018love\u2019 and \u2018hope\u2019 across many of its properties.<\/p>\n<p>Locals in destinations such as Davos, Amsterdam, and Berlin saw as heart symbols were created from guestroom lights in the windows of empty properties.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt\u2019s been incredible to see this grow into a movement of now hundreds of hotels around the world all displaying solidarity and support for their local communities,\u201d said Emma Corcoran, vice president of global corporate affairs for Intercontinental Hotels Group.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe\u2019re incredibly proud of the way our hotel teams have responded to these challenging circumstances, supporting guests, our hotel owners, and each other, while also finding new ways to care for our communities. Switching on our lights of love is just one demonstration of that, and we\u2019ve loved seeing more and more hotels across the industry get involved,\u201d she added.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The display came after the hotel group, which has more than 5,900 hotels and approximately 884,000 guestrooms in its franchise, updated its cancellation policy in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
