“A towel isn’t just about how it feels on Day 1. It’s about how it performs after Day 100. That’s where most products fail. And that’s exactly where we win.”
Francis Clarkson — Director of Product Research & Development, DZEE Textiles
When you hold one of our hotel linens, you’re not just holding a product; you’re holding years of research, countless trials, and an unwavering commitment to quality.
Q: Where do your product ideas come from, and what drives your development process?
We begin by listening, not just to trends, but to the laundry rooms, housekeepers, and hotel owners. They’re the ones dealing with real issues: linting, slow drying, tearing, or towels that fade too fast. I call it “field intelligence.”
Once we understand those pain points, we design a solution, not just a towel. Our Belem combo pack towel collection came straight from that feedback. You give me a problem, I’ll build you a towel that fixes it, and saves your budget in the long run.
You talk a lot about commercial viability. How would you like to explain that to hotels?
Commercial value is everything. A towel isn’t just a comfort item; it’s a repeating cost. If you’re replacing them every 30 washes, that’s not a towel, that’s a liability.
Our goal is to give hotels products that last, perform, and reduce replacement cycles. We build for 100+ institutional washes, not 20. For me, commercial value means longevity, ease of laundering, and zero compromise on guest satisfaction.
We’re not just selling softness. We’re selling reliability that pays off.
That’s a very function-first mindset. How do you ensure these towels also meet aesthetic expectations?
Absolutely, performance doesn’t mean you compromise on aesthetics. Our hotel towels are crafted from 100% premium cotton with a balanced GSM. We pay close attention to color consistency, dobby border designs, and shrinkage control so the towels look luxurious even after 50+ washes. I like to say: “You feel the softness, but you remember the finish.
Hotels often complain that towels lose softness. What’s your secret to durability without sacrificing feel?
Cheap yarn is usually the problem. We don’t cut corners; we use combed cotton and ring-spun yarns. These fibers are longer, smoother, and stronger, which means the towels start soft and stay soft. That’s why you’ll find our products in so many 5-star hotels—they feel great and last.
Then comes the weaving. We rely on air jet loom technology to create a tight, uniform weave that holds up wash after wash. Add in double-stitched hems and pre-shrunk finishes, and you get towels that stay soft but don’t fall apart. Softness alone is easy. Softness that survives constant laundry abuse: that’s where the real skill is.
Pool towels are constantly exposed to sun, moisture, and chemicals—making durability a real challenge. How does DZEE ensure its pool towels stand up to luxury expectations while staying commercially viable?
We design for real-world use, not just a showroom feel. Poolside is tough; sun, chlorine, saltwater, and constant washing will break down a weak product fast. So we build our pool textiles to take a beating and still look good. Stronger weaving, colorfast dyeing, quicker drying. That’s the formula.
Luxury doesn’t mean delicate. For us, it means something that looks premium, feels great, and still lasts. And yes, we keep the price right. Because what good is a beautiful towel if you’re replacing it every month? That’s not luxury. That’s a waste. We solve for both.
Let me put it this way: if it can survive my lab, it can survive any hotel.
We test:
- 100+ institutional laundry cycles
- Colorfastness with bleach
- Tear strength under stress
- Absorbency under timed conditions
- Shrinkage after drying
- Lint output under load
We even simulate laundry abuse, over-drying, harsh chemicals, and high temperatures. If a towel fails at any stage, it doesn’t leave the R&D floor.
What’s the biggest mistake hotels make when buying towels?
They chase low prices instead of price-per-use.
A $1.80 towel that lasts 20 washes costs you 9 cents per use.
A $2.50 towel that lasts 80 washes? Just 3.1 cents per use.
That’s math. You need logic more than emotions. Also, mixing open-end and ring-spun towels? Big mistake. It creates an inconsistent guest experience and laundry problems. Standardize with a reliable towel, and you’ll save money and headaches.
Are all 100% Cotton Towels always better?
They’re not. A lot of vendors throw around terms like “100% cotton,” but what kind of cotton? What yarn count? Is it ring-spun or open-end?
Fiber source, spinning method, loop density, cotton quality, and construction methods all play a role. If two towels look the same on Day 1 but perform differently by Day 30, that’s what we’re solving.
We help clients choose based on use, not guesswork
Where’s the future headed in towels? Any trends we should be watching?
Two words: Performance + Sustainability. We’re using OEKO-TEX® certified cotton, and testing low-impact dyeing methods that reduce water waste. But remember, we won’t compromise on performance. A towel has to earn its place in our catalog.
We’re also building dual-use towels, a spa and bath in one. Perfect for boutique hotels looking to optimize inventory.
What defines a high-performance hotel towel for you?
Three things:
One, guests should love how it feels. That’s non-negotiable.
Two, the laundry team should trust it. No fraying, no linting, no shrinkage headaches.
Three, it has to make financial sense for the hotel. If it doesn’t contribute to profit, it’s not worth stocking.
That’s it. You meet those three, and you’ve got a real towel.
And that’s what DZEE stands for. Not just softness. Not just luxury. We engineer performance because we understand the business of hospitality.
If you’re looking for towels that combine luxury and durability at the best price, DZEE is your partner.
We don’t just promise quality; we deliver it, every time, in bulk and at competitive prices.
